Messaging policy.
How text messaging works for brokerages that use CarShipDesk, and the consent, opt-out and timing rules they follow. It forms part of the Terms of Service.

Status. Sending texts from CarShipDesk is not available yet. This policy sets the rules for texts sent through CarShipDesk once sending is enabled, and describes the standard we expect brokerages to meet today. It is part of the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy.
1. Who sends the messages
- A brokerage texts its customers from its own RingCentral account and its own phone numbers. Each brokerage brings its own RingCentral account; when sending is enabled, each agent connects their own RingCentral login.
- The brokerage, not CarShipDesk, is the sender of record for every message. It is responsible for the content, for the consent behind each message, and for complying with the law.
- Before sending texts, the brokerage must register its business and messaging campaign for 10DLC through its RingCentral account and keep that registration current. CarShipDesk does not register brands or campaigns on a brokerage’s behalf.
2. Consent before the first text
- Text a person only with the consent the law requires, and keep a record of it: the number, the date and time, where the consent was given and the wording the person saw. Marketing texts require prior express written consent. Consent must never be a condition of buying a service.
- Show opt-in wording next to the phone field wherever a number is collected, such as a quote form. Brokerages may use the wording below, with their own name in place of the example brokerage.
- Opt-in, next to the phone field
- By providing your mobile number, you agree to receive text messages from Summit Auto Logistics about your vehicle shipment. Message frequency varies. Msg and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
- Reply to STOP
- Summit Auto Logistics: You are unsubscribed and will receive no more texts from us. Reply START to resubscribe.
- Reply to HELP
- Summit Auto Logistics shipment updates. Help: (312) 555-0142 or help@example.com. Msg and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.
3. STOP and HELP
- STOP and its common equivalents (UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, STOPALL, REVOKE, OPTOUT) end all further texts from the brokerage to that number, apart from one confirmation. An opt-out made in any other reasonable way, such as “please stop texting me”, must be honored too, promptly and never later than the law allows.
- A reply to HELP gives the brokerage’s name, how to reach it and how to opt out.
- When sending from CarShipDesk is enabled, CarShipDesk will honor STOP across the brokerage’s workspace: once a recipient opts out, CarShipDesk will block further texts from that brokerage to that number until the person opts back in.
4. Timing and frequency
- Message frequency varies with each shipment, and the opt-in wording says so.
- Send non-urgent texts only between 8 am and 8 pm in the recipient’s local time. When the recipient’s location is unknown, go by the time zone of the phone number’s area code.
- Some state laws add further limits, such as a cap on how many messages may be sent about the same subject within 24 hours. Follow the rules that apply to each recipient.
5. Content
- Name the brokerage in the first message of a conversation, and whenever it would not otherwise be clear who is texting.
- Keep texts to the recipient’s shipment unless you hold consent for marketing.
- Do not send content that wireless carriers prohibit.
6. Mobile numbers are not shared
Mobile numbers and texting consent are never shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. CarShipDesk does not share them, and brokerages must make the same commitment in their own privacy notices.
7. Records
Keep records of consent and opt-outs for as long as a claim could be brought. Claims under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act can be brought for four years.
8. Calls
- The same consent and do-not-call rules apply to calls. Honor requests not to be called.
- If you record calls, give any notice and get any consent the law requires before recording.
9. If you received a text
If you received a text from a brokerage that uses CarShipDesk, reply STOP to stop texts from that brokerage, or HELP for its contact details. You can also write to hello@carshipdesk.com and we will pass your request to the brokerage.
